England left-arm seamer Tymal Mills and former South Africa all-rounder Johan Botha have become the latest high-profile players to confirm their participation in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz.

Mills will represent the Kowloon Cantons in the tournament, which will run from March 8-12, while Botha will play for the Hung Hom JD Jaguars.

Mills, who recently played for England in the three-match Twenty20 series in India, expressed his excitement at being given the opportunity to compete in the second edition of Hong Kong T20 Blitz.

“T20 is my life now and this is where I want to be,” Mills, who is the Cantons’ second international signing after ex-Pakistan Twenty20 captain Shahid Afridi, said. “It’s a unique situation that has forced upon me, but I am lucky to be doing what I do and everything I do now is great towards becoming the best player in this form of the game.”

A Cantons spokesperson added: “As always the Kowloon Cantons are taking the lead in announcing international players. Having Tymal play for us is very exciting; we have been closely following his game in India and are thrilled with his performance there. All our local boys can wait to practice with his bowling speeds.”

Meanwhile, Botha is coming off a successful stint with the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Botha scored 138 runs and took six wickets in 10 matches as the Sixers went on to reach the final before falling to the Perth Scorchers by nine wickets.

“I’m very excited to be roaring for the Hung Hom JD Jaguars, and I can’t wait to see cricket come to Hong Kong in such a blistering way at the Hong Kong T20 Blitz,” he said.

Jaguars fielding coach Trevor Penney added: “Botha is a wonderful asset to have on any team XI. He can help stall the opposition’s momentum with his economical spells, as well as bolster our team scores with the bat.”
