The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have denied fast bowler Sreesanth the opportunity to play cricket in Scotland.

The former India international had been hoping to play for Glenrothes CC, but the BCCI refused to give him a no-objection certificate.

Sreesanth, however, claims that he has still not received any word from the board.

“I don’t know… I still haven’t got any letter from BCCI,” he told ESPNcricinfo in a text message and added that he made a similar request last year, which went unanswered.

In May 2013, Sreesanth and two other Rajasthan Royals bowlers – Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila – were indicted in a spot-fixing scandal while playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The trio were charged with a multitude of offences, including seeking or offering a bribe in order to fix matches and failing to report an approach by bookmakers, and were subsequently banned for life by the BCCI.

But, in 2015, Sreesanth was cleared of all charges by a Delhi trial court due to a lack of evidence.
