The International Cricket Council (ICC) has given Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez the green light to resume bowling in international cricket after his action was found to be legal.

Hafeez had been banned from bowling in July last year and even though he had an opportunity to get his action re-tested earlier this year, he had to postpone it in order to fully recover from a knee injury he sustained during Pakistan’s tour of England.

Hafeez did a lot of remedial work on his action and before having it checked once again, he underwent an informal test at the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) biomechanics lab at the LUMS University in Lahore.

The 36-year-old had his action re-tested at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane on November 17 and all his deliveries were found to be within the 15-degree elbow extension limit.

Hafeez has fallen out of favour with the national selectors ever since he was dropped after the third Test against England at Edgbaston in August. Following the trip to England, Hafeez was not considered for selection for the series against the West Indies in the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan’s recently concluded tour of New Zealand.
