Afghanistan have recalled the pace duo of Shapoor Zadran and Hamid Hassan for the World Twenty20 in India next month.

Zadran has not represented Afghanistan since October last year and has not played any competitive cricket since November.

Hassan meanwhile has not played for Afghanistan since the World T20 Qualifier in July last year. The 28-year-old has also been nursing a thigh injury over the past couple of months and has subsequently been ruled out Asia Cup as he needs more time to recover. It has been confirmed that 23-year-old pace bowler Yamin Ahmadzai will take Hassan’s place in Afghanistan’s Asia Cup squad.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan have left out a number of veteran players from the squad, including Nawroz Mangal and Mirwais Ashraf.

Afghanistan will take on the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Hong Kong in the Asia Cup qualifier, which will take place between February 19 and 22.

In regards to the World Twenty20, Afghanistan will only reach the Super 10 stage of the tournament if they finish atop their qualifying group, which includes Hong Kong, Scotland and Zimbabwe.
