Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera has announced his retirement from Test cricket at the age of 26.

Perera, who has not played a Test match since July 2012, handed in a retirement letter to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), but the board have not confirmed whether they have accepted it or not.

In the six Tests he played, Perera scored 203 runs at an average of 20.30 and took 11 wickets at an average of 59.36.

Perera will continue to represent Sri Lanka in ODIs and Twenty20 Internationals and recently featured in the limited overs series against New Zealand earlier this month.
