Legendary South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis scored an unbeaten 49 to lead the Sydney Thunder to a comfortable seven-wicket win over the Adelaide Strikers.

Strikers captain Brad Hodge would have been regretting his decision to bat first as he was the only batsman to make a decent contribution as he scored 34 off 33 balls, which included two boundaries and two sixes.

With Adil Rashid and Mahela Jayawardene being the only other batsmen to surpass the 20-run mark, the Strikers were restricted to 117/9 off their 20 overs.

Andre Russell and Clint McKay picked up two wickets apiece, while Kallis, Fawad Ahmed and Gurinder Sandhu chipped in with one wicket each.

Chasing 118 to win, the Thunder got off to an excellent start as Kallis and Aiden Blizzard amassed a 66-run partnership before Blizzard was caught by Hodge at cover off the bowling of Craig Simmons for 35.

Watson and Russell were dismissed for 13 and 17 respectively before Kallis finished things off and remained unbeaten on 49 off 48 deliveries, which included three boundaries and two sixes.

Ben Laughlin was the most successful bowler with two wickets, while Simmons claimed one.

Kallis was named Man of the Match.
