Australia left-arm pace bowler Mitchell Starc will miss the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a knee injury.

Starc will remain in Australia for “two-three weeks” before travelling to India and linking up with the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

“Mitchell had some knee soreness during the latter stages of the World Cup,” Australia physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said. “He will have a short period off to rest and recover, before being reassessed by CA medical staff. We estimate his recovery time will be between two-three weeks.”

Starc recently became the top-ranked ODI bowler following his 22 wickets at an unbelievable average of 10.18 during Australia’s successful World Cup campaign. In addition to lifting the World Cup trophy, Starc was also named Player of the Tournament.
