“One more big fairytale finish for him and then we’ll have a few beers”

New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum has hinted that veteran spinner Daniel Vettori may retire from international cricket after the World Cup final on Sunday.
McCullum’s comments come after New Zealand’s nail-biting four-wicket win over South Africa in the semi-finals.
“This was potentially his last game on New Zealand soil,” McCullum said after the match. “Hopefully we’ve got one more game, one more big fairytale finish for him and then we’ll have a few beers.”
Even though Vettori has been struggling with numerous injuries as of late, he has still managed to take 15 wickets at a brilliant average of 18.80 in the World Cup.
“He’s played a lot of his cricket with bumps and bruises and niggles and strains,” McCullum said. “People probably don’t realise but he’s had to overcome quite a bit to continue to get out there and represent New Zealand. He’s a tough customer and he’s been an amazing servant for New Zealand cricket.”
