India left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha has been banned from bowling after his action was found to be illegal.

According to reports, the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) wanted Ojha to get his action tested at Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai since it is an accredited testing centre.

The test revealed that Ojha was flexing his elbow over the 15-degree limit while bowling.

As a result of this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have made it clear that Ojha will not be allowed to play competitive cricket until his action is cleared.

Following this announcement, the HCA removed Ojha from all their squads.

It is understood that Ojha’s action has been closely scrutinised for a year now, which was one of the reasons why the national selectors decided against including him in the national team.

Former Test umpire AV Jayaprakash, who is now a member of the BCCI’s committee to eradicate suspect bowling actions, revealed that Ojha was told to undergo remedial work on his action in the past.

However, it is unknown whether Ojha heeded Jayaprakash’s advice.
