Australia opener David Warner suffered “significant bruising” after being hit on his right forearm while batting in the nets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Since he was struggling to deal with the pain, Warner did not field when India’s innings began on the second day of the third Test.
Even though twelfth man Peter Siddle took Warner’s place in the field for the second day, it still remains to be seen whether the 28-year-old will field on day three.
In addition to being hit on the forearm, Warner has also been nursing a thumb injury, which he sustained when he was hit on the hand while batting during the second innings of the second Test in Brisbane.
The news of Warner’s injury came just a short while after Cricket Australia confirmed that all-rounder Mitchell Marsh would miss the fourth Test in Sydney due to a hamstring injury.
