Srinivasan has been found not guilty of betting, fixing or trying to impede the investigation into the corruption scandal

The Mudgal report has found International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Narayanaswami Srinivasan not guilty of betting or fixing during the 2013 Indian Premier League (IPL) corruption scandal.
He was also acquitted of having tried to prevent the investigation into the IPL corruption scandal.
However, the report states that Srinivasan and four other Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials knew about one player violating the IPL code of conduct, but decided to look the other way.
The report also revealed that IPL chief operating officer Sundar Raman had been contacted by bookies eight times during one IPL season.
It also brought to light the fact that Gurunath Meiyappan, who is Srinivasan’s son-in-law and a Chennai Super Kings official, had been involved in illegal betting.
“Investigations have confirmed that this individual [Gurnath Meiyappan] was a team official of a franchise,” the report says. “He was frequently meeting individual two [name withheld] in his hotel room. This strengthens the conclusion of the committee in its interim report dated February 10 that he was in close touch with individual two. The panel, however, held that no material was available on record to show Mr Meiyappan was involved in match-fixing. The finding about his betting activities and the finding that he was a team official stood confirmed.
“The fourth individual Raj Kundra, a co-owner of the Rajasthan Royals, has been accused and charged with being in touch with bookies about betting. By not reporting contact with the bookie he had violated BCCI/IPL anti-corruption code and, according to information available, he had also been placing bets.”
Upon hearing the news, interim BCCI president Shivlal Yadav vowed to take action against Meiyappan and Kundra.
“In the case of Meiyappan and Raj Kundra, action will be taken against them,” he told Times Now. “If there is evidence against Mr Sundar Raman, [about speaking] to a bookie then action will be taken. The BCCI will not spare anybody.”
