Zimbabwe’s domestic players went on strike from from December 2013 to February 2014 as well

Zimbabwe’s domestic players have gone on strike again since they are unhappy with the amount of money they are being offered for their services.

Due to the strike, the Logan Cup, which is Zimbabwe’s four-day domestic competition, has been suspended indefinitely.

In fact, the Mashonaland Eagles were scheduled to play the Mid West Rhinos in Harare and the Matabeleland Tuskers were set to square off against the Mountaineers in Bulawayo, but the tosses for both matches did not occur.

It is understood that the players are frustrated with the earn-as-you-play wages since they are constantly being lowered.

According to one source, the wages have become so ridiculous that it is up to ten times lower than what players were making last season.

In addition to this, players who were unable to secure a contract have voiced their frustration as well.

Another source noted that “no one knows” when the domestic season will resume and that the players are still waiting for Zimbabwe Cricket’s finance department to respond to their demands.

However, this is not the first time Zimbabwe’s players have gone on strike. Just last season, the country’s domestic competition was halted for almost two months due to yet another pay dispute.
