South Africa pace bowler Vernon Philander has been cleared to represent the Cape Cobras in the Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) after suffering minor injuries in a car crash.

Philander sustained whiplash as a result of the accident, but he is expected to be fully fit when the tournament gets underway on September 13.

Philander has also recovered from a hamstring injury that kept him out of South Africa’s squad that won the recently concluded ODI tri-series against Zimbabwe and Australia.

The Cape Cobras will play their first CLT20 match on September 19.
