The Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel cruised past the St Lucia Zouks with relative ease as they registered an eight-wicket win at the Beausejour Stadium.

Trinidad and Tobago opener Evin Lewis starred with the bat as he scored a magnificent half-century, while the pace trio of Shannon Gabriel, captain Dwayne Bravo and Kevon Cooper took three wickets apiece.

Bravo would have been delighted with is decision to bowl first after St Lucia opener Johnson Charles was caught by Ross Taylor at first slip off the bowling of Gabriel for a duck.

South Africa batsman Henry Davids only made two runs before he was caught behind off the bowling of Gabriel.

Andre Fletcher was the top-scorer with 24 runs, which came 36 balls and included three boundaries, before he was caught by Taylor at cover off the bowling of Cooper.

St Lucia skipper Darren Sammy failed to save his team as he was caught by Taylor at midwicket off the bowling of Bravo for five runs.

Chasing 118 to win, Trinidad and Tobago got off to a horrible start as O’Brien was caught by Sammy at short fine leg off the bowling of Jordan for nine runs.

Lewis and Taylor made up for the early loss of O’Brien with an 89-run partnership, during which Lewis brought up his half-century, before he was caught by Charles at midwicket off the bowling of Jordan.

Lewis’ superb knock of 59 came off 39 balls and included three boundaries and five sixes.

Taylor and Nicolas Pooran mopped up the rest of the runs to lead Trinidad and Tobago to victory with more than five overs remaining.

Taylor finished on 35 off 39 balls, which included two boundaries and a six, while Pooran remained undefeated on seven off three deliveries, which included one six.

Jordan was the only bowler to take any wickets.

In a rather surprising move, Gabriel was named Man of the Match for his bowling figures of 3-20 off four overs.
