Disgraced Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful has announced that he will be appealing against the eight-year ban he was given by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for match-fixing.
The appeal has been made to the chairman of the BCB’s disciplinary committee, Sheikh Sohel, who will decide whether Ashraful’s ban should be reconsidered.
“I think I still have a week left to lodge the appeal,” Ashraful said. “I will make it within this time. At the same time I am trying to meet a trainer to put together a training programme for myself.”
Ashraful was banned after he admitted to being involved in match-fixing during the 2013 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
