New Zealand pace bowler Tim Southee has achieved a career-best ranking of fifth on the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test Bowlers rankings following the first Test against the West Indies in Jamaica.
Southee, who took six wickets in the match, surged up three places and only trails Dale Steyn, Ryan Harris, Vernon Philander and Mitchell Johnson.
New Zealand spinner Mark Craig claimed the 53rd spot on the rankings after taking 8-188 on debut, which is the best bowling figures for a New Zealand Test debutant.
Meanwhile, West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul moved up to second place on the ICC Test Batsmen rankings after scoring 84 and 24. He now only trails South Africa wicketkeeper-batsman AB de Villiers by 41 points.
