“I have scored [the] most runs this year but they still criticise my style and my strike rate”

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has denied rumours and speculation of players in the national team calling for a mutiny against him.

Ul-Haq also refused to take all the blame for Pakistan’s recent 4-1 loss in the ODI series and 2-0 whitewash in the Twenty20 series against South Africa.

“I don’t believe in that,” ul-Haq said. “If I have done bad against anyone, then I can expect (dissent), but if I am honest with them and help them then I don’t think such a thing will happen.”

The Pakistan skipper also defended his captaincy style after many pundits and former players criticised him for being too defensive.

“Every player has his own style,” he said. “Inzamam-ul Haq’s general posture was never aggressive, he never looked aggressive but that doesn’t mean he never hit sixes, he was an aggressive batsman. Don’t I hit sixes, don’t I use aggressive fields?”

Ul-Haq, who is currently the highest ODI run-scorer this year with 1,119 runs, also retaliated against criticism of him scoring his runs too slowly.

“My strike rate is okay,” he added. “I have scored [the] most runs this year but they still criticise my style and my strike rate.”
