The ACB will use the funds to upgrade their National Cricket Academy

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced that they will be giving the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) $422,000 through its Targeted Assistance and Performance Programme (TAPP) in order for them to improve the standards of cricket and cricketing facilities in the war-torn country.

“The ICC introduced a TAPP fund of USD 12m in January 2012 to help develop more competitive teams at the highest level by targeting the lower ranked full members and higher ranked associate/affiliate members for assistance,” the ICC said through a statement. “The Board had previously received applications and made awards to Cricket Ireland, Cricket Scotland, Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (Netherlands), New Zealand Cricket, West Indies Cricket Board and Zimbabwe Cricket.”

The statement added that the ACB were to use the funds to develop and improve their National Cricket Academy in Kabul.
