A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: I am hoping to make my Test debut soon, says Callum Ferguson

Ferguson’s run of 25 ODIs was ended after his severe injury

Australia batsman Callum Ferguson, who last represented the country during the 2009 Champions Trophy before being sidelined with a severe knee injury, has announced that he believes he is ready to make his Test debut, given the amount of runs he has scored for South Australia in the Sheffield Shield this season.

Ferguson is hoping to replace recently retired veteran batsman Michael Hussey, but is expected to face some stiff competition from batsman Usman Khawaja, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Hussey’s younger brother David.

However, Ferguson believes he has an edge over all three of his competitors since he has scored more runs in the Sheffield Shield than any of them this season.

As of right now, only batsman Phillip Hughes has more runs than Ferguson.

Ferguson noted that it felt great to finally have the opportunity to travel with the ODI team when they toured the United Arab Emirates last year.

He also stated that his since his injury, he has not been handed many opportunities to get back into the national side, but added that he intends to continue piling pressure on the selectors by putting up solid performance after solid performance throughout the rest of the Sheffield Shield.
