A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Matthew Wade will become one of Australia’s greatest wicketkeepers, says Adam Gilchrist

Gilchrist is inspired by Wade’s will to constantly become better

Former Australia wicketkeeper batsman Adam Gilchrist believes Matthew Wade is destined to become one of the greatest glovemen the country has ever had.

However, Gilchrist noted that Wade has to stop beating himself up over the costly missed chances during the recently concluded three-Test series against South Africa, stating that it was all part of the game.

Instead, Gilchrist called on Wade to watch the replays of his missed chances and learn from his mistakes in order to make himself an even better player.

“I had a really good chat with him at Aussie training,” News.com.au quoted Gilchrist as saying. “He was disappointed and I think being unduly hard on himself about the game he had.

“I think that is a huge step-up in class, when you get to international cricket and everything that encompasses.

“Everyone can rest assured Matthew is taking on board any experience he has got to try and improve and he will do exactly that, he is learning, the more you play at higher level the better you will get.”

Gilchrist also admired the guts Wade had to stand up to the stumps against the Australian pace attack and added that he made it look extremely easy.

“Don’t bag him for being up at the stumps, that is part of a tactical game where you are looking for anything that might put a batsman off,” Gilchrist said.
