Warner has proven that he has the ability to become an outstanding Test batsman

Australia’s flamboyant opening batsman David Warner has announced that he is ready to change his mindset to the Test format after playing in the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20, and added that he is looking forward to the challenge of defeating South Africa in front of his home crowd.

Despite having played only one first-class match in the last six months, Warner insists that he is ready to face the South African bowling lineup, which consists of Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Vernon Philander.

Warner last played a Test match back in late April against the West Indies, and due to the World Twenty20, he was not able to represent New South Wales in any Sheffield Shield matches.

“I can’t remember the last time I left a ball in the last three months. It’ll be a good thing for me and a test for myself to get back to the habit of leaving good balls on good line and length. That’s the key for me – to make sure my mind’s switched on and thinking patience but also being aggressive at the same time,” Warner said.

Warner has a very solid Test average of 42, and also has two centuries to his name, but both hundreds came against bowling attacks that were much more inferior compared to that of South Africa’s.
