A BATTING WITH BIMAL BREAKING REPORT: Pakistan to have three separate teams?

Ashraf hinted that Misbah-ul-haq may no longer be part of the Pakistan Twenty20 squad

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have mentioned that they may consider having three teams in order for specialist players to excel in   each of the game’s formats.

There was also strong evidence to prove that the PCB are highly likely to remove captain Misbah-ul-haq from the Twenty20 squad, even though he has maintained a decent record.

The Express Tribune, quoted PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf as saying: “This is the era of specialist teams and we’re giving this idea a serious thought. The selection committee will have the final say and if we need to change captains keeping our aims and plans in mind then we will think over that as well.”

Ashraf, further defended his plans by saying that many of other top teams around the world were having specialist players play in the format they were best at.

“Some players are tailor-made for specific formats. Specialized teams are being made all over the world,” he added.

Ashraf, also noted that he intended to hear from the selection committee and national team coach Dav Whatmore, before taking any action on the proposed plan.

“I can’t say for sure if we’ll have three different captains but if the selection committee and coach Dav Whatmore have advice on this matter, I will look at it. Twenty20, especially, is a fast-paced game and players should be selected based on that,” he said.

According to sources, Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Hafeez, are the two likely candidates to lead Pakistan in Twenty20 cricket if Misbah-ul-haq is dropped from the squad.
