Both teams will receive 10 points as no play was possible over the four days

Following one of the wettest Januaries in nearly six decades, the four-day game between Hong Kong and Scotland was officially washed out without a single ball being bowled.

The news of the washout on the fourth and final day came over an hour before play was scheduled to take place as heavy rain, freezing temperatures and gale force winds left no doubt in the umpires and match officials’ minds that there was no chance of any action occurring.

With no play possible over the four days, both teams will receive 10 points, leaving Hong Kong in third place on the ICC Intercontinental Cup standings with 30 points and Scotland in fourth with 23 points.

After a disappointing conclusion to the four-day game, the two sides will face each other in two ODIs and two Twenty20 Internationals, but there is a chance those could be affected by the weather as well as the rain is expected to return mid-week.
