Braidwood Cup Series 2nd ODI

Heavy rain saw the second ODI abandoned without a single ball bowled

Heavy rain led to the second ODI being abandoned without a single ball bowled

The highly-anticipated second ODI between Hong Kong and Scotland at Mission Road on Thursday was washed out due to heavy rain.

With the skies threatening to burst just prior to the start of play at 9am, the umpires and match officials decided to delay the toss and have an inspection at 12pm. However, the toss did not end up taking place as the heavens parted, which led to the match being abandoned at approximately 9.30am.

The second ODI had been moved to Friday, which was kept as a reserve day, but the match was called off well in advance due to persistent rain through the night and in the morning as well.

As a result, Hong Kong won the two-match series 1-0 after thrashing Scotland by 109 runs in the first ODI on Tuesday.

The focus now shifts to the two-match Twenty20 series, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
