Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed believes Mohammad Rizwan is the best wicketkeeper-batsman in the country.

Many see Rizwan as the number one option due to his wicketkeeping skills and his ability to score runs regularly.

While the 33-year-old from Peshawar is a regular face in Tests and ODIs, the same can’t be said about T20Is as he last played the shortest format in December 2024.

“In Pakistan, no wicketkeeper-batter is better than Rizwan,” Tanvir was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Rizwan was not picked for the 2026 T20 World Cup, but did represent Pakistan in their three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, where he scored 58 runs at an average of 19.33.

Currently, he is captaining the Rawalpindiz in the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and has amassed 83 runs in four games at an average of 20.75 and a strike-rate of 125.75.

Rawalpindiz Squad for PSL 11: Mohammad Rizwan (captain), Sam Billings, Jalat Khan, Yasir Khan, Naseem Shah, Rishad Hossain, Daryl Mitchell, Mohammad Amir, Abdullah Fazal, Amad Butt, Dian Forrester, Laurie Evans, Asif Afridi, Kamran Ghulam, Fawad Ali, Mohammad Amir Khan, Shahzaib Khan, Cole McConchie, Saad Masood
