Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has named legendary batsman Younis Khan as his “greatest inspiration,” citing how he overcame “plenty of challenges” to forge an incredible career.
Younis, who has served as Pakistan’s batting coach in the past, holds the unique distinction of being the only player from the country to score 10,000 Test runs.
Currently out of the T20I team, Rizwan drew parallels with Younis’ resilience, expressing confidence that he too can conquer any obstacles ahead.
“Younis Khan’s career has been the greatest inspiration for me; he faced plenty of challenges in his career but still, Younis Khan had the best career,” the 33-year-old from Peshawar was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Rizwan was not picked for Pakistan’s recent three-match T20I series against Australia in Lahore, which the men in green won 3-0.
He also failed to make the cut for the ongoing 2026 T20 World Cup, where Pakistan started with wins over the Netherlands and United States of America before falling to India.
They will be back in action on February 18 when they take on Namibia in Colombo.
