Pakistan great Wasim Akram has conceded that fellow left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi “gets angry quickly.”
Afridi is Pakistan’s pace spearhead across all three formats and Wasim admitted it is vital for him to stay composed when things don’t go as planned.
“He’s a young man and gets angry quickly,” the Sultan of Swing was quoted as saying on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Afridi, who was recently appointed ODI captain, recently took part in Pakistan’s home series against South Africa, which began with him claiming five wickets in two Tests at an average of 28.60.
He then proceeded to take four wickets in two T20Is at an average of 17.75 and an economy rate of 8.87.
As for the ODIs, which marked his debut as skipper, he ended up with three wickets in three games at an average of 38.
After that, Pakistan went up against Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series, but Afridi didn’t do as well, picking up one wicket in two games at an average of 86.
Pakistan are now taking on Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe in a T20I tri-series, where Afridi has snapped up one wicket in one game at an average of 34 and an economy rate of 8.50.
