Mohammad Amir has admitted that he is glad to see fellow Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi “back in rhythm”.
Afridi faced a challenging period marked by inconsistent wicket-taking and a noticeable decline in his bowling speed.
However, the 25-year-old has turned things around in his last few assignments, regaining his wicket-taking ability and bowling at speeds of 145 kph.
During the T20I tri-series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan, Afridi took four wickets in four matches at an average of 19.50 and an economy rate of 5.57.
He was even more dominant in the 2025 Asia Cup, finishing as Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker with 10 wickets in seven games at an average of 16.40 and an economy rate of 6.60.
“He’s back in rhythm,” Amir was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Afridi is set to return to action very soon as Pakistan will host South Africa for two Tests, three T20Is, and three ODIs, which will take place from October 12 to November 8.
