Pakistan batsman Abdul Samad has admitted that the men in green lack power-hitters and thus wants to “fill that gap”.
Samad has showcased his power-hitting capabilities on numerous occasions and impressed enough to earn a call-up to the national team for the recent five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
In those five games, the 27-year-old amassed 66 runs at an average of 16.50 and a strike-rate of 113.79.
Despite an underwhelming performance against the Black Caps, the Faisalabad native remains committed to being Pakistan’s go-to big-hitter.
“Our team lacks power-hitters, so I will try to fill that gap,” he was quoted as saying by A Sports.
After the New Zealand tour, Samad played for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and made 61 runs in five matches at an average of 15.25 and a strike-rate of 190.62.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match T20I series against New Zealand, but Samad was not included in the team.
The three T20Is will be played in Lahore from May 28 to June 1.
