Pakistan ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan has named Abrar Ahmed as the team’s “key spinner”.
Abrar has been given an increasing number of opportunities as of late and has consistently done well with the ball.
During the 2025 Champions Trophy, the 26-year-old picked up two wickets in two matches at an average of 37.50.
He then featured in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand and took five wickets in three games at an average of 19.80.
After that came the three-match ODI series, but Abrar was not included in the playing XI for all the games as the men in green succumbed to a 3-0 defeat.
Despite this, Rizwan acknowledged that Abrar has become an important spinner as he regularly provides pivotal breakthroughs for Pakistan.
“Abrar is a key spinner,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Abrar is now involved in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he has claimed 12 wickets in eight matches for the Quetta Gladiators at an average of 18.16 and an economy rate of 7.64.
PSL 10 started on April 11 and will finish on May 18.
