Former Pakistan fast bowler Abdur Rauf has slammed national selectors Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali for polishing ex-captain Misbah-ul-Haq’s boots by selecting his son “at every level”.

Misbah’s son Faham has already played for the Pakistan Under-19 team and is currently involved in the President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament, where he is representing the Higher Education Commission.

In the four matches he has played, the 19-year-old has scored 97 runs at an average of 12.12.

He has also taken three wickets at an average of 35.66.

Rauf feels Faham is not good enough to be playing such a high level of cricket, but accused Shafiq and Azhar of selecting him simply to appease Misbah.

“After Pakistan’s worst selection in the Champions Trophy, perhaps the public has now understood my point that Asad Shafiq and Azhar Ali are servants of Misbah-ul-Haq whose only thought is to polish Misbah’s boots and promote his son at every level,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Pakistan team recently took on New Zealand and South Africa in an ODI tri-series.

They are now involved in the 2025 Champions Trophy and have been knocked out in the group stage as they lost to New Zealand and India by 60 runs and six wickets respectively.

Pakistan’s last group stage match will be against Bangladesh on February 27 in Rawalpindi.
