Former Pakistan captain Moin Khan believes no one will be able to come close to his son Azam Khan if he “puts in a little more effort”.

Moin believes Azam is “naturally talented”, but needs to keep working on his game to become a better batsman.

Azam has shown flashes of brilliance as a wicketkeeper-batsman, but has also been regularly criticised for being overweight and inconsistent when it comes to scoring runs.

Should the 26-year-old address these problems, Moin thinks his son can be the best in the world.

“Azam Khan is naturally talented and if he puts in a little more effort, no one can come close to him,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Azam, who last played international cricket during the 2024 T20 World Cup, has represented Pakistan in 14 T20Is and scored 88 runs at an average of 8.80.

He missed Pakistan’s recent tours of Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, along with their two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan.

Additionally, he was not picked in Pakistan’s team for the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, and the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be played from February 19 to March 9.
