Pakistan left-arm spinner Mohammad Asghar has made it clear that he won’t “beg people to pick me”, even though he is trying to resurrect his professional career.
Asghar last played domestic cricket in November 2023, but despite having done well, he has not been able to get enough chances.
It should be noted that the 25-year-old played an instrumental role in leading the Peshawar Zalmi to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) title in 2017 as he took figures of 3-16 off four overs in the final against the Quetta Gladiators.
While he continues searching for opportunities, Asghar said he will continue working hard as he knows his efforts will pay off in the end.
“I don’t like to beg people to pick me for the PSL, I’d rather believe in hard work,” he was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup and lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.
Even though they triumphed in those two matches, they failed to make it through to the Super Eights.
