Pakistan white-ball captain Babar Azam has refused to give up on struggling spinner Shadab Khan, saying he has “the most faith” in him.
Shadab has not been able to take any wickets since Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand in April 2024.
Additionally, he has leaked a lot of runs when bowling, which has proved to be even more of a problem.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 25-year-old from Mianwali went wicketless in four games and didn’t even bowl in Pakistan’s matches against India and Canada.
Despite Shadab’s poor performances over the past couple of months, Azam is confident he will rediscover his form and get back to his best very soon.
“I have the most faith in Shadab,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan lost their first two T20 World Cup matches against the United States of America and India before bouncing back to beat Canada and Ireland.
Despite finishing the group stage with a 2-2 record, the men in green failed to make it to the Super Eights.
