Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja said the young batting trio of Mohammad Haris, Saim Ayub and Khawaja Nafay “need to be more consistent.”
The three players are all seen as future stars as they have shown plenty of promise and possess outstanding talent.
However, Ramiz feels that they will only be successful in international cricket if they are able to score runs regularly. In order to do this, they will need to put in a lot of hard work to keep improving their batting.
“Players like him (Haris), Saim Ayub and Khawaja Nafay need to be more consistent,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Haris and Ayub recently played for the Peshawar Zalmi in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), while Nafay represented the Quetta Gladiators.
Haris scored 142 runs in 10 matches at an average of 15.77 and a strike-rate of 132.71, while Ayub made 345 runs in 11 games, which included two fifties, at an average of 31.36 and a strike-rate of 157.53.
As for Nafay, he amassed 182 runs in 10 games, which included a top score of 60 not out, at an average of 22.75 and a strike-rate of 121.33.
Pakistan are now involved in a five-match T20I series against New Zealand and Ayub made four runs in the second T20I, which the men in green won by seven wickets.
Pakistan are 1-0 up going into the third T20I, which will take place on April 21 in Rawalpindi.
