Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has rubbished rumours of relocating to London with his family.

It had been reported that the wicketkeeper-batsman was frustrated about his cricketing future in Pakistan, even though he has featured in Test cricket more regularly.

However, the 36-year-old from Karachi insisted that he is staying in Pakistan and not moving to England with his wife and two children.

“I can’t even think of leaving Pakistan. Confirm before running such fabricated news. Sad to see such news,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Sarfaraz recently played in Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia and made scores of 3 and 4 in the first Test in Perth.

He was subsequently dropped from the playing XI for the last two Tests as Mohammad Rizwan replaced him.

It should be noted that the veteran cricketer didn’t play in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, which the men in green lost 4-1.

Sarfaraz will now play for the Quetta Gladiators in the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), but will no longer captain the franchise as South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw was announced as his successor.

PSL 9 will be held from February 17 to March 18 in four cities – Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.

Quetta Gladiators Squad for PSL 9: Rilee Rossouw (captain), Sarfaraz Ahmed, Sherfane Rutherford, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Wasim, Jason Roy, Wanindu Hasaranga, Mohammad Hasnain, Abrar Ahmed, Will Smeed, Saud Shakeel, Sajjad Ali, Usman Qadir, Omair Bin Yousuf, Adil Naz, Khawaja Nafay, Akeal Hosein, Sohail Khan, Laurie Evans, Bismillah Khan
