Legendary Pakistan power-hitter Shahid Afridi believes Babar Azam is a special talent as he rarely sees batsmen as consistent as the 29-year-old.
Azam has scored runs all around the world for the men in green and has broken many records along the way.
The Lahore native hasn’t been at his best lately, but has shown glimpses of how good he is.
Afridi noted that going through rough patches happens to all great players, but pointed out that Azam’s consistency is something that separates him from the others.
“The best batters lose form, but I have seen such consistent batters very rarely in Pakistan cricket,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently featured in Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia and made 126 runs at an average of 21.
He then scored 213 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 42.60 and a strike-rate of 142 in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand.
Having rediscovered some form against the Black Caps, Azam will be looking to build on it during the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he will captain the Peshawar Zalmi.
PSL 9 will be held from February 17 to March 18 in Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
