Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez has praised fast bowler Aamer Jamal for standing up and rising to the occasion during a difficult tour of Australia.

Jamal got the chance to make his debut in the three-match Test series and made the most of it as he took 18 wickets at an average of 20.44.

He also proved his worth with the bat, scoring 143 runs, which included a top score of 82, at an average of 28.60.

“Aamer Jamal is someone we are praising for the right reasons because he stood up to the challenge,” Hafeez was quoted as saying by respected journalist Saj Sadiq on X, formerly known as Twitter.

After the Australia tour, Jamal played in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand and picked up one wicket in two games at an average of 97 and an economy rate of 12.12.

Next up for him will be the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he will represent the Peshawar Zalmi.

PSL 9 will be played from February 17 to March 18 in four cities – Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
