Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has revealed that Test captain Azhar Ali sometimes can’t understand what he is saying since he speaks in Pashto instead of Urdu.

Rizwan noted that Azhar even asks him to stop speaking to the bowlers in Pashto during the recent tour of England.

“I am always speaking to them in Pashto – in fact so much that Azhar bhai says to me, please speak in Urdu so that he can also understand what I am saying,” Rizwan was quoted as saying by Saj Sadiq on Twitter.

Rizwan was one of the bright spots for Pakistan during the England tour as in the three-Test series, the 28-year-old scored 161 runs, which included two half-centuries, at an average of 40.25.

He also took five catches and had one stumping.

As for the three-match T20 series, Rizwan didn’t bat in the two games he played, but took one catch and had a stumping as well.

Azhar, meanwhile, was Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in the Test series with 210 runs, which included a score of 141 not out in the third Test, at an average of 52.50.
