Nicholas Pooran struck seven boundaries and three sixes during his knock of 67

Nicholas Pooran scored 67 and Evin Lewis made 54 as the West Indies cruised to a 47-run win over Afghanistan in the second ODI in Lucknow.

Being put in to bat first, the West Indies got off to a great start as Lewis and Shai Hope amassed a 98-run partnership, during which Lewis brought up half-century, before Hope was trapped lbw off the bowling of captain Rashid Khan for 43.

Lewis went on to score 54, which came off 75 balls and included six boundaries and a six, before he was clean bowled by Javed Ahmadi.

The West Indies began to lose wickets at regular intervals once Lewis was gone, but Pooran came to the rescue with a 50-ball 67, which included seven boundaries and three sixes.

Thanks to his knock, the West Indies ended up finishing on 247/9.

Naveen-ul-Haq was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Rashid, Ahmadi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Sharafuddin Ashraf and Mohammad Nabi chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 248 to win, Afghanistan were dealt a big blow on the fifth ball of their innings as Ahmadi was caught and bowled by Sheldon Cottrell for a duck.

Rahmat Shah and Hazratullah Zazai made up for the loss of Ahmadi with a 53-run partnership before Rahmat was run out by West Indies captain Kieron Pollard for 33.

Hazratullah went on to make 23 before he was dismissed by Roston Chase.

Asghar Afghan and Ikram Alikhil fell soon after, but Nabi and Najibullah Zadran steadied things with a 68-run partnership.

Najibullah ended up making a 66-ball 56, which included seven boundaries and a six, before he was caught behind off the bowling of Cottrell.

Once he was gone, Afghanistan continued to lose wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 200.

Cottrell, Chase and Hayden Walsh claimed three wickets each.

Pooran was named Man of the Match.
