Pakistan captain Babar Azam has issued a stern warning ahead of his side’s three-match Twenty20 series against Australia, saying “there are no friendships on the ground”.

The forthcoming Twenty20 series against Australia, which will be held from November 3 to 8, will be Azam’s first assignment as captain. The 25-year-old replaced Sarfaraz Ahmed as leader of the Twenty20 squad last week.

Azam noted that players in the squad have to live up to expectations or risk losing their spot.

“As for friendship, friendship is outside the ground. In the ground, there’s no friendship,” Azam was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “This is Pakistan’s team, not a club team that I can put in whoever I want to. Anyone who comes in the team is there on talent and performance”
