Bangladesh have announced that they will make a decision in two weeks on whether they will tour Pakistan for two Tests and three Twenty20 Internationals in February 2020.

Akram Khan, the cricket operations chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has revealed that the board needs to send an officer to assess the security situation in Pakistan before any confirmation is made on the tour.

Should the tour go ahead, it will be the first time Bangladesh will travel to Pakistan since 2008.

“You know our board president (Nazmul Hasan) has always said security is our first priority. We have that in mind. This is not just a decision of the board. We haven’t decided as to whether we will play in Dubai or Pakistan. We are discussing,” Akram was quoted as saying by CricTracker.

He also pointed out that in addition to the BCB, the government also has to sign off on the national team visiting Pakistan.

“This decision will be finalized in a board meeting and the green signal has to come from both sides (board and government),” he said.

Currently, Sri Lanka are in Pakistan for a limited overs series. They played a three-match ODI series in Karachi, which Pakistan won 2-0, and are now in the midst of three-match Twenty20 series in Lahore.
