Pakistan batsman Abid Ali is feeling confident ahead of the team’s Test series against Sri Lanka in October as he has been working hard to become a better player.

Abid has yet to make to make his Test debut, but is optimistic about being picked for the Test series, which could potentially be played in Pakistan.

Should it happen, it will be the first time Pakistan has hosted a Test match on home soil since March 2009.

“I am confident that [my] hard work will pay off for me and I will get the reward for it,” Abid was quoted as saying by arysports.tv. “My focus is on the next assignments. The team will play a Test series against Sri Lanka. I will try to prove myself worthy for that series.

“Modern day cricket demands stamina. You have to spend time at the crease to prove yourself. I am working hard on my fitness and I hope it will get better time to time.”

Having put in the hard yards, Abid thanked National Cricket Academy’s (NCA) coaches for helping him iron out his flaws.

“Obviously coaches help you improve your game. I would also like to thank the medical staff [at the] NCA who [are] always there to support players while facing an injury,” he said.
