Former pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar has revealed that four Pakistan legends interested in becoming coaches didn’t know how many players were allowed outside the circle during the third powerplay.

Akhtar noted that they along with a number of other players “have no knowledge of cricket whatsoever”.

Akhtar’s comments come after there has been a lot of speculation about Mickey Arthur’s future as his contract as Pakistan’s head coach expired after the World Cup.

Reports indicate that he will be sacked, but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will conduct a comprehensive review before making a decision.

“Honestly if you ask me, the seniors I have worked with have no clue about cricket,” he was quoted as saying by cricketpakistan.com.pk. “They have been big batsmen or big bowlers but they have no knowledge of cricket whatsoever. They don’t have any clue about the requirements of modern day cricket.

“I asked four senior star players how many players are allowed outside the circle in the third powerplay. They didn’t even know that. All of them want to be coaches for Pakistan. All of them want to be coaches based on their name value.”
