Waqar Younis: “Our biggest problem is we make compromises in selection on fitness issues, seniority, and other matters”

Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Waqar Younis believes that the biggest problem with the national team is the fact that comprises are made on “fitness issues, seniority, and other matters”.

Waqar’s comments come after Pakistan failed to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.

Pakistan got off to a rocky start in the tournament, but after their loss to arch-rivals India, they bounced back brilliantly as they defeated South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

Despite also beating England earlier on, the men in green failed to advance to the semi-finals as New Zealand had a better net run rate than them.

“Our biggest problem is we make compromises in selection on fitness issues, seniority, and other matters,” Waqar told the Daily Jang as quoted by The New Indian Express.
