Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir believes that maintaining a good economy rate is more important than taking wickets in Twenty20 matches.

Amir’s comments come ahead of his stint with Essex for the 2019 Vitality Blast in England.

Amir, who was Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker at the World Cup with 17 wickets in eight matches at an average of 21.05, believes that by not conceding too many runs, it will put the opposition batsmen under pressure and eventually lead to wickets falling.

“The economy rate is more important than wickets in T20 cricket. If you are bowling dot balls, the wickets will eventually follow,” he told Essex Cricket TV as quoted by cricketpakistan.com.pk.
