Pakistan could potentially host Sri Lanka for three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals in Karachi and Lahore in December.

However, according to cricketpakistan.com.pk, Sri Lanka are hesitant on playing a two-Test series in Pakistan in September and October since the country’s cricket board are concerned about the lack of freedom the players will have during the tour.

In an attempt to remedy the situation, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani will hold talks with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials on the sidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings in London.

Pakistan had invited Sri Lanka to play Test matches in Karachi and Lahore a few months back, but nothing concrete ever came out of it.

With official expecting Sri Lanka’s Test tour to last 15 days, SLC believes it is too long of a period to keep the players confined to the hotels and stadiums.

It should also be noted that SLC are satisfied with the security situation and arrangements.

Should Sri Lanka not want to play two Tests, the PCB have also given them the option of playing a one-off Test. However, SLC have yet to respond to this notion.

Sri Lanka have toured Pakistan in the last two years as they played a Twenty20 International in Lahore in October 2017.
