Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani has revealed that he decided to retain Sarfraz Ahmed as captain earlier on as he didn’t want to make such a drastic change ahead of the World Cup.

Mani’s comments come after Pakistan failed to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals.

There has been a lot of speculation about whether Sarfraz will be stripped of the captaincy entirely or lead the national team in fewer formats.

“I did not make any changes in the team management and also retained Sarfraz Ahmed as captain because the World Cup was just a few months away when I took charge as PCB chairman,” Mani told Dawn.
