Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq sent a heartwarming message to all-rounder Shoaib Malik after he retired from ODIs on Friday.

Malik bid farewell to the 50-over format after Pakistan’s 94-run World Cup win over Bangladesh at Lord’s.

Malik was given a guard of honour by the Pakistan team as he left the field for the last time in an ODI.

The 37-year-old had announced prior to the World Cup that he would bring his ODI career to an end after the tournament.

“Shoaib Malik, congratulations on such a wonderful ODI career. We shared many good moments during this journey and enjoyed playing together. It was a rebirth of my cricketing career under your captaincy. Thank you for all your services brother and good luck for the future,” Misbah said on Twitter.
