Pakistan left-arm seamer Wahab Riaz believes that Afghanistan will be “one of the best teams in the world” in the future.

Wahab’s comments come after Afghanistan pushed Pakistan to their limit in their World Cup clash at Headingley on Saturday.

Wahab helped Pakistan come out on top by three wickets with two balls to spare as he took two wickets and scored a crucial 15 runs.

The 34-year-old noted that Afghanistan also gave India a run for their money as they fell 11 runs short of causing one of the World Cup’s biggest upsets.

“They are a tough team,” he was quoted as saying by The News International. “Afghanistan have a very good bowling line-up. They have some of the best spinners in the world. I think in the future, Afghanistan will be one of the best teams in the world.”

With Pakistan having defeated Afghanistan, they will now have to beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday to have any chance of reaching the last four.
